PERFORMANCE ON RTE1'S THE LATE LATE SHOW

RTÉ’s search to find Ireland’s Favourite Folk Song has turned into a massive ratings winner for the Late Late Show.

Last night saw folk legend Mary Black join Ryan Tubridy on the show along with Phelim Drew, Aoife Scott and Fiachna Ó Braonáin to discuss their musical influences.

Viewers were really moved with their stirring renditions of songs such as The Auld Triangle, Grace and A Woman’s Heart with many taking to Twitter to praise the segment.

‘Something about this show makes it all worthwhile when it goes back to our roots. The trad /folk spots tonight are what makes the show what it is, not the stars promoting films or books to sell,’ one viewer said.

PJ Gallagher was completely blown away by Aoife Scott’s mesmerising performance of Grace. The comedian heaped praise on the singer saying that she has ‘always been absolutely amazing.’

Several users tweeted that they were moved to tears by the performance. ‘Grace’ would bring a grown man to tears. Powerful,’ one viewer tweeted.

Another person posted that song always made them cry while a third praised Aoife’s ‘presence and smile.’

Taking to Twitter the unassuming star thanked fans saying: ‘Jayney mackers The Late Late Show was amazing ! I thiiiink I did Okay…! Grá mór xx

Dozens of viewers agreed with Ryan that that songs made them feel proud to be Irish with some demanding a ‘full show’ dedicated to traditional music.
